~+~ It has been brought to my attention that Mineral Makeup Mutiny published a nice blog article about us in November 2009. They also granted us permission to use this:

At Herbs of Grace, Inc., we feel that the products you put on your skin should be the cleanest possible. Like our byline says, “No synthetics, No additives, No nano-particles”. This goes for our personal food and lifestyle choices, as well. We are, simply, fed up with the junk that corporate america shovels at consumers. So, at Herbs of Grace, we decided to walk the talk by making natural/organic choices, every time. In our business and in our personal lives.

.

Back in early 2008, Herbs of Grace, Inc. with the help of Jenny Karl, published a Beauty Bill of Rights. Let us know what you think. We encourage you to take the organic plunge, it feels really good.

.

~+~ Speaking of Jenny Karl (jennykarl.com a friend of ours from the city of Angels who is mad about makeup and beauty), published an article in January plugging our products. And now she went and DID IT AGAIN last month.

.

In March, Jenny describes how to get the Bar Refaeli look at Diva Village by using our Primrose blush.

.

Article highlights: How To Get Cheeks Like Bar Refaeli.

A brighter blush is “muy importante” for this look! A rosy cheek will create that Bar Refaeli healthy glow and give life to your face. Use a medium size, natural hair blush brush, to apply the color a little at a time directly to the apples or balls of the cheeks. Try Primrose, Natural Mineral Color from Herbs of Grace.

.

Jenny also did a Spring Trends article for The Hair and Makeup Artists Network.

Have no fear; there are many all-natural makeup lines that offer brighter and even ultra shimmery colors. My fav is Herbs of Grace. They have a large assortment of bright loose powders, which come in matte or shimmer and can be used on eyes, lips, and cheeks! Thanks, Jenny!

~+~ There are three new retail locations where you can now purchase Natural Look Mineral Makeuptm. They are:

You can find all of our retailers on our locations page.

~+~ We had a few blog posts in March. The HoG Blog is a snap shot of our day to day activites, comments and pictures. It contains some business matters, but mostly it’s about our lives trying to make a living with a home based business, the kids, a dog, and an 1895 farm house. Recent blog posts are:

Jenny Karl Mentions Natural Look
Mineral MakeupTM in Diva Village Article

~ Our friend from Los Angeles, Jenny Karl of jennykarl.com, has been giving us some great press lately. Here is an article from Diva Village about our mineral foundation and mineral blush.

Article highlights:

How to Get Foundation Like Kate Beckinsale.

To get Kate’s flawless skin use an all natural mineral foundation, like the Herbs of Grace Mineral Powder. Not only does it provide nice coverage while still looking natural, but it’s also environmentally friendly and good for any skin type. Apply using a large kabuki brush. Buff the dry powder onto the skin very lightly in a circular motion until you have reached your desired coverage.

How to Get Cheeks Like Kate Beckinsale.

To get Kate’s natural rosy cheeks use a brighter pink blush, like Primrose Natural Mineral Color from Herbs of Grace, to create that healthy glow.

~ We had an overwhelming number of entries for our newsletter name. A number of you suggested “Grace Notes”. So that’s what we will call it. Thanks and a tip of the hat to Kerrita who won the drawing and will receive a mineral foundation and mineral color of her choice.

I’ve spent all morning converting the newsletter from text format to html. I hope you like the new format. It’s a lot more eye freindly. Tell me what you think of the new look.

~ Our blog is not what you would call a “high level marketing tool”. It mostly reflects the day to day activities of a family running a small business. No hard sales pitches (although we do mention the business occasionally), no in your face graphics, just a few words with occasional pictures and videos of life around 3 Girls Grove. If you are into skiing, check out the latest blog entry. We went to White Pass a couple of weeks ago and Brad skied the back country with Joel, from 40 Below.

~ Last month we sent congratulations to Vanessa for obtaining her DiHom degree in homeopathy. For those of you who are not tuned into homeopathy, here is a great primer on what homeopathy is, some history and other interesting facts. And of course, here’s Vanessa homeopathy website.

~ March – 50% off Lip Balms!
Almost every month, we have something on sale at HerbsofGrace.com. This month it’s Vegan Lip Balms. Next month it will be Brushes. Usually we offer 20% off, although this month we are offering a whopping 50% off the balms. Look for the coupon code at the top of our homepage. (balm1 – for the March Vegan Lip Balm sale)

~ Thanks for subscribing to the Herbs of Grace newsletter. Remind your friends that the Herbs of Grace newsletter is back. Also, check your spam filter to ensure that mail from Herbs of Grace is allowed.

Return customers always receive a 10% discount. See your shipping confirmation email for coupon code.

If you spot a website, article or video that you think we might be interested in, please send us a note.

See you next month,

Web Site, Web Master, Lipstick

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Couldn’t sleep this morning, so I got up at 5 and banged away on a piece of software that does an automatic backup of part of our website. It took me about 3 hours. Should have taken 30 minutes. I was lucky if I did a manual backup every 2-3 months, which is way to infrequent. Now I don’t have to think about it anymore. The zipped files land in my mailbox every morning.

Got a note the other day from our “now snowboarding web developer”. She says our shopping cart software is outdated, so I am organizing myself to do the update. It should be a simple point and click affair, but of course, it isn’t. Somewhere along the way our shopping cart software lost itself. It still works, but it doesn’t know which version it is, and if it doesn’t know which version it is, then I have to do a manual install of the latest version, and then do a bunch of coding to switch to the new version. If I had built the site, from the bottom up, I’d be familiar with all the bells and whistles that need to be connected to the new version. But since I’m taking over for our “now snowboarding web developer”, I get to figure it all out. And I hate it. 10 years ago, heck even 5 years ago, I would have attacked this with gusto. But for some reason, in the past 5 years, I have gotten so that I can’t stand the tedious aspect of installing and debugging software. It takes me forever, and in this case, if I get it wrong, our cart won’t work. I feel like I’m flying a 747 and the tower won’t answer. =8-0.

Vanessa got her lipstick mold today. She is in the final R&D stages of putting together a line of all natural, vegan lip sticks. We’ll have a big annoucement when they hit the market. Blog readers and newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear the news. Subscribe now. The sign-up is at the lower left of the page. We issue newsletters 4-5 times a year. There is usually a “coupon special” that Vanessa offers with each newsletter, so it can be worth you time if you are an Herbs of Grace shopper.

We had a great Thanksgiving with some friends down the road. We were home about an hour when daughter S started complaining about an ear ache. Poor kid. She was really feeling it. V and I did a quick web search for ear ache remedies and came up with onion juice. We squeezed about a 1/4 t of onion juice, mixed it with a 1/2 t of olive oil, and dropped about 4 drops into her ear. Wasn’t sure how it would go, but apparently onion is a great treatment for this type of thing. And it was. She slept the night and woke up this morning without comment. V tells me she got up around 2 for a homeopathic remedy which also helped.

White Pass picked up 36″ over the past 24 hours! YOW!

Later, Brad.
